The Course

The Euroa Golf Club has always been recognised for the true running quality bent-grass greens. These along with an excellent layout designed by professional golf course architect – Vern Morcombe 1948 adds to an inviting challenge to golfers at all levels. Mr. Morcombe is recognised for his golf course design achievements e.g. Kingston Heath. Golf commenced in Euroa in 1908 and after a couple of relocations members of the time chose the present site for the existing club.

The par 72 course is set in a stunning native rural environment with gentle undulations and challenging dog leg holes. A further feature of the layout is the manner in which a water course comes regularly into play which has added to the pleasant surrounds and adding a further challenge to the wayward golfer. There is always a variety of native birds, koalas and kangaroos which appear from time to time.

With many parts of rural Victoria suffering from the drought we have recently been fortunate to obtain recycled water for our course. With this being available the club has undertaken a program to install a fully automated watering system that has almost been completed. This work, completed totally on a voluntary basis by members has resurrected our course from almost a dust bowl to a lush well grassed one. This new grass cover has now increased a new challenge to many of our golfers.

The 2nd hole, 340 mtrs par 4 with a distinctive dog-leg requires your drive to be in a specific position to approach the green with your second shot.

The 4th hole, 380 mtrs par 4 invites the big hitters to take on the trees covering the left hand dog leg.

The 7th hole, 334 mtrs par 4 is an interesting undulating native tree lined hole. The right hand portion of the green is protected by a massive Red Gum, part of the left hand side of the fairway has a natural water course coming into play.

The 9th hole, 343 mtrs par 4 is also another dog-leg right protected by some wonderful Lemon Scented Gums, again, it is important to have your drive in an appropriate position for your approach shot to a raised green. If you overshoot or go to the right you will encounter a challenge.

The second nine of the course has some shorter holes but has a creek which comes into play across 2 fairways and a natural water course and pond that border 4 more holes.

Further to these challenges are the location of the trees which are strategically placed on our 12th and 13th fairways. The following 14th and 15th holes are rated 1 and 2.

The layout of the course has 5 par 5’s, 8 par 4’s and 5 par 3’s.

We encourage you to come and play the course which our members have available to them 365 days of the year.
